The meta in Riftbound never stands still and neither does the community!
This weekend saw multiple GNL events fire all across Dubai and Abu Dhabi meanwhile RQ Barcelona saw a massive meta upset.
Skirmish Sweep
In Abu Dhabi, the man in black himself, Lear, exhibiting true Irelia supremacy, took the Skirmish win at the soft opening of GTech's second location on Saturday! The top 8 picks were a mix of different Legends showcasing meta favourite Kennen and an unorthodox Akali.
In Dubai, BV Whale took both the BlockVault and the B2G Times Square Skirmishes in a true display of skill. He's been dominant across all sets, though best known for his Yi! This time, however, he showcased how a Kennen deck can be so strong in effective hands.
Both players have secured their byes for RQ Singapore representing two of the best Riftbound UAE have to offer. We wish them the best in their practice as they prepare for the travel and trials upcoming!
The Pain in Spain
Ekko may still be sitting on the bench for next set, but Grand Finals rewinds? Still very much in play.
CTCG KokoLopez made the mistake of passing to MICE TheManLand holding 8. L3 Judge Grenton allowed a rewind. Unfortunately, it made no difference as the Forge God pilot proved that point scoring consistency with Pit Crew and Porobots can be just as effective as miracle decks.
RQ Barcelona hopeful and local legend Ekpilot unfortunately could not progress onto Day 2, but he leaves the tournament as the most experienced player in Riftbound UAE competing at the highest level of any player. His run and advice will be invaluable to the RQ Singapore team as preparations are still underway.
